Truth and Liberty-South Carolina

Media Mountain

The media, news and commentary mountain includes sources such as TV, radio, newspapers, online news, podcasts, and, of course, the hugely influential social media sites and blogs on the Internet. To bring transformation to this enormous mountain, we shall speak the truth from a Biblical perspective to combat the sea of disinformation spread by liberal elite outlets and other mainstream sources. 1  Part of being a responsible Christian with a Biblical world view is staying informed about what’s going on in our culture. Avoiding media sources that are promoting anti-biblical ideology is vital in combatting misinformation (false information that is spread, regardless of whether there is intent to mislead) and disinformation (false information, as about a country’s military strength or plans, disseminated by a government or intelligence agency in a hostile act of tactical political subversion.” It is also used more generally to mean “deliberately misleading or biased information; manipulated narrative or facts; propaganda” ). 2

Being aware and keeping abreast of what’s going on in our culture is very important, so we can know where Christians need to take action. Biblical truth should prevail. Since Jesus is our Lord and Savior, believers know He is the source of all truth.  As Jesus said in John 14:6,  “I am the way, the truth, and the light.” He wants us to shine His light in a dark culture. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.” In Revelation 19:16, John describes Jesus as “King of kings and Lord of lords.” So, Christians acknowledge that He is our ultimate authority and we must endeavor to promote His word and His ways with a Biblical world view of our culture, both in our words and in our actions and reject the ways of the world.
